Onyx Magazine, on behalf of LBS Foundation Incorporated, celebrates its sixth annual Onyx Awards. We invite you and your corporation to become a corporate sponsor to what has become Florida's signature African American awards celebration of "Black Trailblazers" and corporations that promote inclusion and diversity in the workplace. This signature event serves as a funding engine to support health and education initiatives of the foundation, such as: sickle cell anemia and early literacy programs and services.

This year, LBS Foundation Incorporated will again provide funding to assist the Sickle Cell Disease Association of Florida in defraying the cost to send children to Camp Boggy Creek. As a result, these children will have the advantage of enjoying a number of fun activities under the supervision of a counseling and medical staff that is capable of dealing with emergency situations and medical crisis that could occur during the child's stay at summer camp.

Sickle Cell is an inherited blood disorder that turns normal round blood cells into misshaped cells that look like sickles or crescent moons. Although research continues to get closer to an answer regarding a cure for sickle cell anemia, to date, none exits. Although research continues to get closer to a cure for sickle cell anemia, to date, none exists. The disease seems to afflict people of color, to include Blacks, Hispanics and Asians. Many families find themselves incapable of providing a normal life of extra curricular activities for their children. With your support we can afford a child an opportunity just to be a kid. The education and literacy level of children shapes their own personal development and life chances, as well as the economic and social progress of our Nation.

The LBS Foundation Incorporated Onyx Award proceeds will also benefit the Montsho Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)3 organization, which was created to promote family literacy and provide a continuum of programs and activities that seek to eradicate illiteracy.
